Acne is something that can be handled. It is generally referred to be a threat to the skin. But nowadays a variety of acne skin care products is available in the market. Acne skin care products are classified into three major types. They are

- Protective or common skin care products.
- Acne products for skin care obtained without a prescription
- Acne products for skin care with prescription.

The protective care products are used for general prevention of acne. Make-up removers, cleansers and other analogous products help in protecting the skin from acne. It is essential that the acne products have to be used in our day to day life. Rather than preventive products they are used as skin care products. They avoid the acnes from being caused. These skin care products prevent the pores of the skin from getting clogged, limits the oil production as well as the sebum. The products nature is to avoid the oil from being clogged in the pores and hence the bacterial growth is obstructed.  Exfoliation products are also a kind of general skin care product. The dead skin cells are removed by them and thus the clogging of the skin’s pores and the bacterial growth is avoided.

The next are the acne products which are obtained without a prescription that is over the counter products. They are generally the vanishing creams which remove the excess oil from the skin. The ingredients of the acne creams are salicylic acid and benzyl peroxide
which are the rivals for the growth of bacteria. Initially use products which contain less quantity of benzyl peroxide and carefully monitor the response of your skin to it. Moisturizers which contain alpha-hydroxyl acid also act as good acne products. It is advisable to try a few products before you settle down with the perfect one which suits your skin. If the response is zero then it is better to consult a dermatologist.

Acne products which are obtained using a prescription mean that they are advised by a dermatologist. They are mainly ointments which are applied on the infected spots or an oral medication or another specific treatment opted by the dermatologist. Even a simple surgery can be suggested to remove the pustules contents. It is not advisable to press or pinch the acne. This will literally damage the skin causing marks. The dermatologist may also go in for a treatment based on the hormones (sometimes changes in the hormone may cause acne). At times these hormone based treatment may prove successful. When such a lot of acne products are available it is easy to protect our skin from acne and this problem can be easily handled and set right.
