Improper diet and cholesterol problems are quite common and most of us face them a lot of times. Although, most of us try our best to eat healthy food, it is not quite possible forever life. In case of restoration of lost health or prevent any heart diseases, it is important to consume food which is healthy and good for our hearts.

Effects of food on your heart

It is a common fact which all of us are aware of that consuming food with high levels of fats increases the level of cholesterol in our bodies, which directly affect our hearts, hence creating risk to it. Obese affected people are high at risk for their hearts because of these factors. Apart from that, food with high level of sodium also affects the body by elevating the blood pressure, resulting in heart diseases and inflammation.

Here are some tips which you can consider to make your health better and prevent the risk of heart diseases.

Eat lots of fish

Our body consists of an essential fatty acid called Omega 3. For forming this required acid, fishes like salmon, sardines and herrings are quite recommended. There are also other varieties of fishes which can help in sourcing Omega 3, which helps in reducing excess cholesterol in the body to a healthy level.

Choose healthy oils and fats

Butter, coconut oil and meat are sources of gaining saturated fat in the body, which increases chances of heart diseases in the body. Try not to have such products if you have a high cholesterol level or are over weighted. Nuts and seafood are great sources of providing vitamins to the body and can be taken instead of red meat.

You can consider using products like olive oil, which have mono-saturated fats and are beneficial in preventing and reducing heart problems. You can consume olive oil in form of cooking oil or dipping sauce. In some place, it is also used for dressing in the food preparation.

Lots of fiber

Fiber has proved to be quite beneficial in maintaining the cholesterol levels in the body. It also helps in keeping your digestive system in good health, and is available in form of whole grain products, which is also helpful in absorbing excess sugar in the body.

Choose carbohydrates

Excess sugar is also not good for health, especially for those who are suffering from heart trouble. So you should avoid consuming which might be available in the forms of pastries, candies, cookies and cakes. Instead try consuming carbohydrates like brown rice, whole grain pasta, whole grain breads and green vegetables, which are good for health. Your diet plan can be comprised of vegetables and fruits as well.

Healthy cooking methods

You can choose to stir fry using canola oil or olive oil, as the food should not be dipped in batter or over-fried. While making chicken, take of the skin and leave it in a wrapped foil in the oven to be baked.
Baking the fish is always more recommended than frying them. In case of vegetables, you can steam them, as this would not destroy the nutrients available in them. Butter or cream sauce can be used. You can also consider spreading some nice seasoning or some lemon juice over the vegetable cooked.

The change in proper diets will need some time before you get used to them. It is always a better choice to maintain a proper food and eating habit rather than staying sick or being affected by heart diseases. Doing so is not only prevention but also helps in keeping your body fit and healthy.
